            Before Belle by Sigerson Morrison was born, its two founders Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison were already incredibly well respected. The original Sigerson Morrison line began when Sigerson, from Nebraska, and Morrison, from England, met at a shoe design class at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York in 1991. The two women found they had a remarkably similar aesthetic and began designing together. After only one year in business, the line was picked up by Bergdorf Goodman, and almost instantly obtained a cult following around the world. Sigerson Morrison shoes received the incredibly prestigious Perry Ellis award for best new accessory design from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1997, after only six years of business.
