Although the two had entirely different backgrounds from the footwear or even design industries: Flavio was a lawyer and Francesco an engineer, they decided to form Lilimill because of their passion for footwear. Lilimill shoes are produced at Vueffe, their family’s well-established footwear company. The founders aim to ensure that their pieces are always manufactured and designed to an exceptionally high quality, synonymous with the ‘Made in Italy’ label.

            The Lilimill brand is inspired by nature, as one can see even in the dandelion incorporated into their logo. Their shoes and boots are simple, produced for everyday wear and with a huge emphasis on comfort. One can easily see the influence of nature in the design; Lilimill shoes are made mainly in leather, and incorporate soft, natural lines into their shoes. The shoes are also produced in colours from nature, using soft toned browns and caramels. Even the laces on their boots are produced with softness and delicacy in mind; they are thick and almost ribbon-like, and dyed in tones similar to that of the leather of each shoe.

            Lilimill is also a brand which is very conscientious; the company supports the charity ‘Apurimac’ which works in the impoverished Peruvian areas of the Andes. Lilimill pieces are perfect for day to day wear, they provide comfort and elegance, sometimes with a small wedge heel, and they won’t fight for attention with the rest of an ensemble. The main appeal of this label is the classicism of design. These shoes will look wonderful forever, on every woman, and this is something that can be hard to find in today’s footwear industry, where brands can often fight for attention with screaming colour, and garish decoration.
